I spent a long day walking around Leeds, taking pictures of stone inscriptions. I targeted places I thought I could find them: churches, the Leeds University Campus and buildings based around the Canal. I found lots of inscriptions near Clarence Dock / Granary Wharf area.

Chosen Inscription
I've chosen to work with this inscription, on the side of the Design School on the Leeds Uni campus. I feel the typeface has strong characteristics, and there is also a vast number of characters to work with. Judging by how the plate is worded, it's obvious that it was produced a long time ago, way before digital type design. I'm excited to make it digital, and add characters that are missing!
